Who does not associate Baja California Sur with rich marine biodiversity? In addition to beautiful coastlines and islands, our robust marine life is the reason sport fishing enthusiasts began traveling to our state back in the 1960s.
Old stories exist that describe this pastime of the world. The former inhabitants of the “arm of Mexico,” to quote Fernando Jordan, left their mark on rustic fishing utensils and manuscripts written by Jesuit missionaries document the skills of the Indians of the peninsula in the art of fishing.
Today, protective regulations allow anglers to continue to enjoy this activity; one that requires luck, knowledge and strategy. In addition, sport fishing tournaments make every effort to combine recreation with increasingly important environmental conservation.
Tendencia Magazine highlights the history of Sport Fishing in the state in this special Issue.
