Nace en la Ciudad de México y crece
en Tulancingo, Hidalgo. A los 14
años se interesa por el forcado y se
dedica a eso durante 10 años. A los 20 años
descubre su pasión por el buceo, que le
ha permitido tener proyectos importantes
que ha disfrutado plenamente, un campo
inmenso de oportunidades es el proyecto
de los tiburones. De igual manera es
amante de la bicicleta de montaña, correr,
el snowboard, nadar y los deportes de
agua en general. Actualmente reside en la
Ciudad de México, en donde tiene un club
deportivo y un negocio de buceo.
Born in Mexico City and raised in
Tulancingo, Hidalgo. At 14, he became interested in bull fighting and dedicated himself to the discipline for
10 years. At 20, he discovered his passion
for diving. It allowed him to pursue and
fully enjoy important projects involving
sharks. Similarly, he is a lover of mountain
biking, running, snowboarding, swimming
and water sports in general. He is currently
living in Mexico City where he has a sportsclub and dive business.
“Me considero un hombre tradicional y
conservador, para mí es muy importante la
familia. Cuando no estoy buceando lo que
quiero hacer es estar jugando con mi hijo,
me encanta vivir y disfrutar todo al máximo.
Me gusta tratar de alcanzar mis objetivos”.
"I consider myself a traditional and
conservative man. For me, the family is
very important. When I'm not diving, all
I want to do is play with my son. I love to
live and enjoy all the best. I like trying to
attain my goals."
“Primero, nace mi interés por el buceo, con
la idea de probar otras actividades deportivas y después por la fotografía, con la finalidad
de documentar los tiburones que tanto me
apasionan y así poder compartirlo con la gente”.
"My first interests was in diving, then came the idea to try other ports. After that came photography in order to document the sharks that I´m so passionate about so i can share it with other people."

La experiencia de bucear en el Mar de Cortés
ha sido única para él, los contrastes de tierra
rojiza con los colores azul claro del mar, y lo verde
de los cactus hacen un paisaje insuperable, así
también, la cantidad de peces y mamíferos que
habitan en él. Sus lugares favoritos para bucear
en este maravilloso rincón del mundo son La Paz
y Cabo Pulmo.
Diving in the Sea of Cortez has been a unique
experience for him. The light blue sea contrasting
with the red earth and the green of the cactus
creates an unbeatable landscape. The abundance of fish and mammals makes it even more inviting. His favorite places to dive in this wonderful corner
of the world are La Paz and Cabo Pulmo.
“Estar en el mar, es un momento único, yo soy el mar y los tiburones,
me siento muy cómodo buceando, cuando interactuó con tiburones me siento más en
el ambiente. Ese tiempo me hace revalorarme, y revalorar muchas cosas, cuando
estoy en el mar maravillado, y fuera de todo contacto con el mundo al lado de
un tiburón me siento bien”.
"Being at sea is a
unique moment. I am the sea and the sharks. I feel very comfortable diving and
when I interact with sharks, I feel part of the environment. The time makes me
revaluate myself and reassess many things. When I'm amazed at sea, out of touch
with the world, and next to a shark, I feel good."
“La variedad
de fauna en el Mar de Cortés es impresionante, toda es igual de importante en
la cadena alimenticia del mar, sin embargo lo más destacado son las 9 especies
de ballenas que nos visitan año con año, lobos marinos, tiburones ballena, tiburones
martillo, mantas mobulas y una infinita cantidad de peces de mil colores al
igual que corales”.
"The variety of wildlife in the Sea of Cortez is awesome.
Everything is important in the food chain of the sea, but the highlights are
the nine species of whales that visit us every year, the sea lions, whale
sharks, hammerhead sharks, Manta rays and the infinite amount of fish with as
many colors as the coral."
Para los amantes de las excursiones, el buceo y las emociones al límite
como él, Gerardo recomienda realizar un viaje de varios días a bordo de una embarcación, que permitirá realizar hasta 5 buceos diarios.
For people who love excursions and
diving to the limit like him, Gerardo recommends a trip of several days on a
live-aboard boat that provides up to five dives a day.

“Lo
principal es el nivel de buceo, temperatura del agua y el clima, distancia de
los lugares, donde dormir, donde comer, con quien ir, que queremos encontrar en
los buceos, cual es la mejor época para ir, equipo que se tiene que llevar y
todo los básicos de un viaje”.
"The
main concerns are the depth of diving, water temperature and climate, distance
to places, where to sleep, where to eat, who you are going with, what you want
to find in the dives, which is the best time to go, equipment that you have to
take and all the basics needed for a journey."
