Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot el torneo de atún más grande del mundo. Inició en Cabo San Lucas en el año de 1999 con 12 embarcaciones. El concepto se planeó hace aproximadamente 18 años por Kit McNair, quien tenía experiencia como director de escuelas de pesca, acompañado de Pat McDonald quien es el director de Cabo Tuna Jackpot. Este año133 equipos participan del 5 al 8 de noviembre.

The Cabo Tuna Jackpot is the world's largest tuna tournament. Kit McNair came up with the idea about 18 years ago. He made Cabo San Lucas the headquarters used his experience as a director of fishing schools to develop the tournament. The year was 1999 and 12 boats were entered. This year 133 teams will ¨fish hard and party hard¨ from Nov 5-8 !!!

Part of the fun of traveling in foreign waters is getting to know the locals. That’s exactly what the Baja Ha-Ha rally fleet has been doing for the past few days, since the fleet extended its stay in Bahia Tortugas due to concerns over Hurricane Vance (now centered roughly 300 miles SSW of Cabo).

With its dusty streets and simple homes, there’s nothing fancy or sophisticated about this long-established fishing village, but its people are always warm, friendly and helpful to visiting mariners – especially the Ha-Ha fleet, which gives a huge financial boost to the local economy.

When the potential path of Hurricane Vance became a concern prior to the scheduled Saturday-morning start of Leg 2, the rally’s Grand Poobah decided to err on the side of caution and hold the fleet in Turtle Bay for at least one more day. The cruisers spent this lay day hiking the hills and getting to know the townspeople, and some participated in a paddle board race around the committee boat, Profligate

Sunday morning, some crews were anxious to get moving, and elected to temporarily ‘drop out’ of the rally and sail toward Bahia Santa Maria, 240 miles to the south, while the majority of the fleet stayed in Bahia Tortugas. One unanticipated effect of this change of plans was that the town came close to running out of beer!

With Vance now beginning its anticipated northwesterly turn toward the mainland, the whole fleet is expected to push on toward BSM today. Sailing conditions offshore should be ideal, with 15-25 knots of wind from the northwest. With any luck, the entire fleet will arrive at the Cape on Friday, just a day behind the original schedule.

Buried under more than 15 feet of sand, this ship was uncovered by the force of the waves from Hurricane Odile that hit Land’s End. 

Este barco oculto por mas de 30 años de Nombre Lundenberg de Origen Alemán , su principal carga era de yeso que provenía de la Isla de San marcos en el Golfo de California ,fué el 08 de febrero 1954 cuando se estrelló contra estas rocas y dió su ultimo viaje .
Ahora será un espectacular lugar para buceo ya que se creara un arrecife artificial por las condiciones de corrientes y profundidad ,

 This ship was the Lundenberg of German origins was hidden for over 30 years and was carrying a shipment of plaster from San Marcos Island in the Gulf of California. It crashed against the rocks on the year of 1954 and it became its last voyage.

The currents and ocean depth conditions will create an artificial reef from this ship which already is a spectacular place to dive.

The first day of fishing in the 2014 Los Cabos Billfish Tournament proved productive, especially for Team Reel Gold.

Alaskan Jason Snyder, currently of Namibia, hooked up to a nice blue marlin at 12:27 p.m., and after a tough 30-minute battle the crew had the marlin on board. At the IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas weigh gantry, the fish weighed in at 365 pounds, winning levels 1-4 Daily Marlin Jackpots worth $2​​0,700 and giving Team Reel Gold the lead in the tournament.

Team Picante 45 earned Wednesday’s Daily Release Jackpot. Team captain and angler David Machado of Gulfport, Mississippi, caught a striped marlin and blue marlin, earning Picante 45 600 release points and the Daily $2,400 Release Jackpot. Team Picante 45 currently leads the Billfish Release Division, followed by Pocket Aces and Solmar.

In the Tuna/Wahoo/Dorado Jackpot, Team Minerva II angler Gary Anderson from Canada weighed a 25.4-pound dorado to take the $2,100 Daily Jackpot. Team Estrella Del Norte angler Gonzalo Gastillo of San Jose Del Cabo won the $2,100 Tuna Jackpot, besting a 180-pound yellowfin after a two-hour fight on 60-pound-test line. There were no wahoo weighed in, so that jackpot rolls to day two of fishing.

After another beautiful sunrise, Thursday’s shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. from both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo sent the teams racing off in the hopes of finding a winning fish. Today​ is the second of three days of LCBT fishing with cash, prizes and glory on the line.

Despite Hurricane Odile and limited air lift, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament maintained its tradition and timing for 2014’s 16th-annual event. A festive kickoff party and captains meeting on the beautiful Playa Grande Resort & Grand Hotel’s beachside terrace got things going Tuesday evening.

The LCBT fishing began this morning as Rubén Reachi Lugo, Secretary of Tourism for Baja California Sur, shot the flare at 7:30 a.m., signaling the official start of Los Cabos’ fall tournament season. Fishing has been fantastic, so the teams were eager and excited to get underway. At press time, several blue and striped marlin were released, and one tuna was boated.

The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament is a three-day team event with top team honors going to the team that tallies the most billfish points per pound.

El Torneo “Los Cabos Billfish” es un torneo de tres días de pesca de gran captura (peces de gran tamaño) que premia a los equipos que acumulen el mayor número de puntos por libra (kilogramo) durante el torneo.

Los Cabos Billfish Tournament tuvo sus inicios en 1999, rápidamente fue reconocido como un torneo de pesca importante enfocado en un formato de conservación al medio ambiente. Durante tres días los equipos inscritos tendrán la oportunidad de lograr el mejor puntaje.

The first Los Cabos Billfish Tournament was held in 1999. It was quickly recognized for its focus on environmental conservation. It is a tournament of three-day team event with top team honors going to the team that tallies the most billfish points per pound.

Participating teams hit the water Wednesday, October 17, in hopes of earning some of the estimated $750,000* in cash and prizes by releasing the most billfish or catching the largest marlin, tuna, wahoo and dorado during the tournament’s three days of fishing. Weigh-ins and billfish release video check-in will be at IGY Marinas Cabo San Lucas.

The LCBT was the first tournament in Cabo to use cameras and technology to score billfish releases, leading to large cash purses for letting billfish go. The tournament was also the first to introduce a live online scorekeeper in Cabo, allowing participants and fans from all over the world to access what happens on the water and at the weigh scales.
