¿Quién no identifica a Baja California Sur por su riqueza en biodiversidad marina?, aunado al atractivo de sus costas e islas, fue lo que originó en los años 60´s el interés de los apasionados por la pesca deportiva en viajar hacia los litorales de nuestro Estado.
Who does not associate Baja California Sur with rich marine biodiversity? In addition to beautiful coastlines and islands, our robust marine life is the reason sport fishing enthusiasts began traveling to our state back in the 1960s.

         Relatos antiguos describen este pasatiempo en el mundo, mientras que los antiguos pobladores del “brazo de México”, como diría Fernando Jordán, dejaron huella en utensilios rústicos, y fueron los misioneros jesuitas quienes en sus manuscritos documentaron las habilidades de los indios de la península en el arte de la pesca.
Old stories exist that describe this pastime of the world. The former inhabitants of the “arm of Mexico,” to quote Fernando Jordan, left their mark on rustic fishing utensils and manuscripts written by Jesuit missionaries document the skills of the Indians of the peninsula in the art of fishing.

En nuestros días se establecen reglamentaciones que permiten a los pescadores gozar de esta actividad, suma de suerte, conocimiento y estrategia; ahora se busca en cada torneo consolidar recreación y conservación ambiental en este deporte, lo que adquiere cada vez mayor importancia.
