Artist Enrique Bascón Canales in Tendencia Avenue

"Life is too short to do something different from what you would like to be doing during the time of your death"

Tendencia Avenue is a cultural project in conjunction with Yandi Monardo Art Gallery  and Tendencia El Arte de Viajar Magazine. This time the renowned artist Enrique Canales Bascón will exhibit its collection Made in Mejico, three colors for a Flag inside Luxury Avenue Mall in Los Cabos.

Enrique Bascon Canales, born in Vizcaya, Spain in 1972. From an early age showed great interest in painting and drawing, but it was not until 2001 when he decided to enroll in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country.

In 2004 he was awarded the Seneca scholarship to the University of Barcelona, ​​a city to which he moved to give a definitive boost to his career. In December of the same year and with a very definite artistic orientation, he decided to depart from the "scholarship" of some subjects to feel that you away from production and its own way, denying economic scholarship.

His constant interest in the human being and the place that defines it, and Bascon own words "by what unites us and what makes us different," he ventured to make an in situ study, a routine of thorough, living and knowing places in four of the five continents, except Africa. Through painting and sculpture, reflecting a concept that focuses on the human figure and the expression as an absolute link in all human beings.

For almost three years, he devoted himself to study and observe the particularities of human beings defined by place of birth, through photography and quick sketches. With a firm belief in childhood, and the right to act as adults in order to provide a less tense world to new generations, is involved in a collaborative project with an organization that helps abused children in Costa Rica, where She was teaching art classes.

Influenced by artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Freud, Bacon, Andy Warhol, Barragan and Chucho Reyes, Bascon line, the stroke, chromaticism, themes, characters and iconography with a strong symbolic meaning, seem to be constantly between friendly and rough. The dimensions of his work, especially in his collection Made in Mexico, three colors for a Flag, invite the viewer to walk through the play as a character in it.

In July 2007 he moved to Cabo San Lucas on the occasion of the opening of his art gallery, where he currently resides with his wife and son.

“La vida es demasiado corta para hacer algo distinto a aquello que te gustaría estar haciendo en el momento de tu muerte” 

Tendencia Avenue es un proyecto cultural realizado en conjunto con Yandi Monardo Art Gallery y la revista Tendencia El Arte de Viajar. En esta ocasión el reconocido artista Enrique Bascón Canales exhibirá su colección Made in Mejico, Tres Colores para una Bandera, en las instalaciones de Luxury Avenue Los Cabos.

Enrique Bascón Canales, nacido en Vizcaya, España en 1972. Desde muy temprana edad mostró un gran interés por la pintura y el dibujo, pero no fue hasta el año 2001 cuando decidió matricularse en la facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad del País Vasco.

En el año 2004 le concedieron la beca Séneca en la Universidad de Barcelona, ciudad a la que se trasladó para dar un empuje definitivo a su carrera. En diciembre del mismo año y con una orientación artística muy definida, decidió apartarse del “academicismo” de algunas asignaturas al sentir que le alejaba de la producción y de su propio camino, renunciando a la beca económica.

Su constante interés por el ser humano y el lugar que lo define, y en propias palabras de Bascón “por lo que nos une y lo que nos diferencia”, le aventuró a realizar un estudio insitu, una rutina de investigación exhaustiva, viviendo y conociendo lugares en cuatro de los cinco continentes, a excepción de África. A través de la pintura y la escultura, refleja un concepto que se centra en la figura humana y la expresión como vínculo absoluto en todos los seres humanos.

Durante casi tres años, se dedicó a estudiar y observar las particularidades de los seres humanos definidas por el lugar de nacimiento, a través de la fotografía y bocetos rápidos. Con una firme creencia en la infancia, y en el derecho a que los adultos actúen con el objetivo de ofrecer un mundo menos tenso a nuevas generaciones, se involucra en un proyecto de colaboración con una organización que ayuda a niños maltratados en Costa Rica, donde estuvo impartiendo clases de arte.

Influenciado por artistas como Leonardo Da Vinci, Freud, Bacon, Andy Warhol, Chucho Reyes y Barragan, la línea de Bascón, su trazo, cromatismo, temática, personajes y una iconografía con una fuerte carga simbólica, parecen estar constantemente entre lo amable y lo áspero. Las dimensiones de su obra, muy especialmente en su colección Made in Mejico, Tres Colores para una Bandera, invitan al espectador a pasearse por la obra como un personaje más de la misma.

En Julio del año 2007 se traslada a Cabo San Lucas con motivo de la apertura de su galería de arte, donde reside actualmente junto a su esposa y su hijo.
